It seems like live albums are making a resurgence again! Before I started to attend concerts, the live album was an opportunity to hear music on stage... with the passion and the energy it as meant to have. It was also and probably most important, a way for a fan to get caught up with their greatest hits and back catalog with one purchase. With Alter Bridge's latest release, I get all that! It's no secret that I am NOT a fan of most 90's music, but Alter Bridge always had more of the elements I love and in this collection you hear it. LIVE AT THE O2 ARENA is a three cd set with two sides live and one made up of studio tracks that are amazing. 'The Other Side', 'Metalingus' and my favorite 'Ghost Of The Day' all are given an amazing treatment here. Live, Mark Tremonti (guitar), Brian Marshall (bass) and Scott Philips (drums) deliver the goods live with every live track (all 19 live ones) but more the 80's metalhead in me it's vocalist/guitarist Myles Kennedy that brings me in. From the opening cut, 'The Writing On The Wall' to the final (and seriously amazing) 'My Champion', Alter Bridge cement their reputation as being not only an amazing live act, but an incredible band. When you finally get out of the LIVE and into the RARITIES... holy cow! Contained here is 11 tracks that could stand up on their own as a studio release. Filled with bonus tracks and exclusives it never once feels like this is filler or leftovers. The haunting 'Breathe' and the acoustic 'Solace' showcase the band in a different light and never at all feel like filler. Everything you would want from a live album... plus!!!! On one of the worlds biggest stages or in the studio, Alter Bridge delivers. LIVE AT THE Q2 ARENA + RARITIES will be released on September 8th thru Napalm Records. For buying options (and there are many) and more information you can go to http://www.napalmrecordsamerica.com/store/alterbridge. Pre-sales are selling out so if you can find it, GET IT!!!!!
